2016 Lessons & Carols at Blessed John Henry Newman Catholic Church, Irvine, California

The Tallis Chapel Society  leads Advent Lessons & Carols once again at Bd. John Henry Newman Catholic Church in Irvine, California.

A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was originally conceived as a gift to the City of Cambridge by the Choir of King’s College, and is the Christmas Eve service held in their Chapel. The Festival was introduced in 1918 to bring a more imaginative approach to worship; it spread throughout Anglican congregations the world over and is sung on different evenings during the Season of Advent. The service includes carols and readings from the Bible. The opening carol is always ‘Once in Royal David’s City’, and then the rest varies each year. This is a free event, however space is limited. A free will offering will be taken to support the music ministry at Blessed John Henry Newman parish. Reception to follow in the Cellar (parish hall).
